My Dog’s Amazon Essentials: Products I Actually Use & Love
As a dog mom who LOVES to shop, I’ve tried a lot of dog products. Some of these products have become everyday essentials, while others ended up not working out for my dog. The Amazon essentials listed below, are products that I’ve tried, and actually use and love.

Poop Bags
Poop bags are a daily essential for any dog owner. I’ve tried a lot of poop bags over the years, and Earth Rated is hands-down my favourite. They’re thick and durable, and I’ve never had one break or leak—even with long nails. I also love that the rolls have a sticker near the end to let you know when you only have three bags left. There are several options to choose from, including different quantities and scented/unscented, but I personally prefer their compostable bags.

I also love using a poop bag holder to keep my roll of bags conveniently on my leash, instead of grabbing bags before each walk and stuffing them into my pockets. That’s why I have my poop bags paired with the Earth Rated Poop Bag Holder.
Easy Walk Harness
This PetSafe Easy Walk Harness is my favourite dog-walking product because it helps with pulling without making me feel like my arm is going to fall off. The leash attaches to the front rather than the back, which helps discourage pulling. My dog is a puller and loves to lunge at squirrels and rabbits, so having a harness that gives me more control is really important. I also prefer using a harness rather than relying on a collar around her neck when she is pulling.
Dog Bowl
I’ll admit that this is on the more expensive side for a dog bowl, but I’ve had my YETI Boomer 8 for over 3 years and have had zero issues with it. I purchased two, one for water and one for food. I love the sleek, stainless steel design and how durable it feels. It has a non-slip ring at the bottom to help prevent it from sliding around during use. And a big plus for me is that it is dishwasher safe!

That said, I also purchased a similar, but less expensive, bowl for my other dog that has held up well too.
Slow Feeder Insert
My dog is very food motivated and will literally finish her meals in two seconds. This little slow-feeder insert from Messy Mutts sticks to the bottom of the bowl with suction cups and helps to disperse kibble around the bowl so she has to work a little harder to get to it. Now, it doesn’t magically turn her meal into a 30-minute activity, but does slow her down a little. Also, I love that it’s dishwasher-safe and easy to clean too.
Silicone Feeding Mat
I love this Gorilla Grip feeding mat because it makes the whole food-and-water area so much easier to manage. I like that it gives the bowls a designated “home”. It’s waterproof, easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and helps keep the bowls in place. I like layering a small fabric mat underneath mine for a little more of a finished look.
WOOF! Pupsicle Treat Dispenser
The Pupsicle is one of my favourite activities for my dog. It keeps her entertained for 20+ minutes and she absolutely loves it. I love it so much I’ve even purchased it as gifts for other dog parents. You can buy the ready-made treat inserts or make your own using a mold – we do both. Tip: freezing treats makes it last longer. I also love that it’s easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.
Quality Dog Treats
I always like to have treats on hand for walks, training, or just because. I especially like Crumps’ Naturals because they have simple, single-ingredient options, which I prefer for my dogs. I use their chicken bites for my Dalmatian, and her bestie Daisy the lab eats the freeze-dried pork hearts. I also love supporting a Canadian brand. I’ve purchased several of their products, including their sweet potato treats and dental sticks, and appreciate the brands overall focus on quality.
Dental Wipes
We’ve tried the classic toothbrush-and-dog-toothpaste routine, but I find these dental wipes from Bluestem so much easier to actually keep up with. You simply wrap the wipe around your finger and wipe along your dog’s teeth and gums. For me, the convenience makes it much more likely to become part of our regular routine.
Grooming Wipes
These are one of those things you don’t realize you need until your dog rolls in something questionable on a walk. I keep them around for dirty paws, behinds, and quick cleanups. They’re thick, reseal well, and I’ve found them gentle enough for my dog’s sensitive skin.
Classic Dog Toy
And finally, the classic Lamb Chop toy. It’s plushy, squeaky, cuddly, and has become one of those toys my dog just loves. Sometimes the simplest toys really are the best.

I think the biggest thing with dog products is finding what actually works for your dog. Everything on my list has earned its place because I actually use it, my dogs actually likes it, and I’d buy it again – and do continue to buy them.
